It is of high important to make sure you take care of your Invisalign® at home to ensure the best results, we thought we would share our top 5 tips on how to keep your Invisalign® in tip-top condition.

Step 1: Remove your aligners before eating and drinking

You can drink water whilst wearing your Invisalign® aligners, but other than that it is crucial you take them out whilst eating and drinking. Aligners aren’t built for chewing and will become damaged if you continue to eat whilst wearing them. Food and drink are also likely to stain the aligners.

Step 2: Clean and rinse your aligners regularly

It is important to treat your aligners the same way you would treat your teeth and cleaning them twice a day is a must! Cleaning the aligners prevents plaque and bacteria from building up. Brushing the trays with a soft-bristled toothbrush can also help remove some of the plaque.

Step 3: Soak your Invisalign® aligners daily

To ensure your Invisalign® are kept as clean as possible, you must soak them daily in cleaning fluid or cleaning crystals. Soaking the aligners ensures they stay odour free and clean, soak them for as little as 15 minutes a day, then brush.

Step 4: Make sure you brush and floss whenever you remove your Invisalign.

Brushing and flossing are so important whilst undergoing Invisalign® treatment. It is important to floss and remove any food debris that is trapped in your teeth or gums before putting your aligners back in. if you do not correctly clean your teeth, the bacteria will become trapped inside the aligners and could lead to dental health issues.

Step 5: Use a tray to store your aligners

It is important to store your aligners in their case whenever you aren’t wearing them, no matter how long or short they aren’t in your mouth. Leaving them out of their case could risk damaging them or even losing them, which can be a costly mistake.
